How to Reset Your Okta Password
Self-Service Password Reset via Email Recovery
Use this guide if you have forgotten your Okta password. You can reset it yourself in a few minutes using your @jr286.com email address no help desk ticket required.
Before you start, you will need access to your @jr286.com email inbox to retrieve the verification code
Step 1 — Click “Forgot password?” on the sign-in page
Go to the Okta sign-in page (jr286.okta.com). Below the Sign In button, click the Forgot password? link (1).
Step 2 — Enter your email and request the reset
In the Email or Username field (1), type your @jr286.com email address (for example, user@jr286.com). Then click Reset via Email (2).
Step 3 — Confirmation that the email was sent
Okta confirms that a 6-digit verification code has been sent to your email address. Keep this browser window open and go check your inbox.
Tip: If the email does not arrive within a few minutes, check your spam/junk folder. The message comes from Okta (noreply@okta.com).
Step 4 — Find the 6-digit code in the email
Open the email titled “Account password reset” and note the 6-digit verification code (1). The code is time-limited — if it expires, start again from Step 1.
Step 5 — Enter the verification code
Back in your browser, type the 6-digit code into the Enter Code field (1), then click Verify (2). If the code didn’t arrive, you can click Resend code.
Step 6 — Choose a new password
Enter your new password in both fields (1), making sure it meets the requirements shown on screen, then click Reset Password (2).
- Do not reuse a previous password
- Avoid passwords you use for personal accounts
Step 7 — Done!
You will see a confirmation that your password was changed, and you will be signed in to your Okta dashboard. Your new password takes effect immediately for all Okta-connected apps.
After you reset
- Update the saved password on your phone and any other devices to avoid account lockout from repeated failed sign-ins.
- If your computer login uses the same account, lock and unlock your computer while connected to the office network or VPN so the new password syncs.
Trouble?
- No verification email received (and not in spam): your account may not have email recovery enrolled — contact the IT help desk.
